Hydration Vs. Moisture

WHICH ONE DOES YOUR SKIN NEED?

There has always been a debate around hydration and moisture, especially when it comes to facial skincare. But what's the difference? Why should you even care? Which one should you be using for your skin type? Questions, questions.. 🤔

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

To put it simply, hydration is water and moisture is oil.

If your skin is dehydrated, it needs water. If it tends to be dry, then it needs oil.

HYDRATORS

A hydrator brings water to the skin. Using humectants, moisture is attracted from the environment and bonds to the skin, which allows it to absorb the water and stay hydrated.

Squalane is perfect for adding a barrier to lock in moisture and boost hydration. Other benefits include protection against skin damage, improved suppleness and texture.

Whatever your skin type, be it dry, oily or combination, and whatever your skin concern, acne, ageing, dullness etc. all skin needs hydration.

MOISTURISERS

Moisturisers contain oils that can help to lock in hydration, keeping the skin feeling smooth and soft. Every skin types have a natural oil barrier but this can start to break down when the skin is dry or ageing, causing the skin to lose moisture.

Skin therefore needs both hydration and moisture to tackle dehydration and provide overall protection.
